Greetings
from the Café Work Party!
Dear Friends
and Family,
The next crafts party was held near the end of June. We needed
to finish the lanterns from the previous party. Also on the list
was making can lamps for the work lights in the coffee shop. John
Kelly AKA Kelly AKA Apollo AKA the Café Lighting Manager
was on hand with his golden hammer.
Everyone
rocked on the lanterns, so we even made some progress on turnbuckle
covers. Don't worry if you don't know what a turnbuckle is, let
alone a turnbuckle cover. A turnbuckle is a rigging device used
to attach the Café cables to the ground anchors. The turnbuckle
can be adjusted to loosen or tighten the rigging in case of high
winds, which reduces the stress on the structure. The covers are
going to look like island vegetation and the challenge is that
the turnbuckles still have to be easily accessible for quick adjustments.
You
learn all kinds of things working on a Burning Man project!
