Heather began making masks in 1992, after being invited to a Mardi Gras Ball in the Washington D.C. area, and realizing that the majority of special occasion masks available to consumers were really awful, mass produced, and uninspiring. She won the Most Beautiful Mask award from the hostess that evening and since then, mask making and other costume creations have become an obsession. She is especially fond of adding a glittering, sparkling touch to her work and puts great attention to detail in her creations.

The masks have been featured in many Mardi Gras Balls, masquerades, theme parties, and costumed events. The Bohemian Masquerade signature Checkerboard Display has been used to decorate business events as well as alternative musical performances.
